There is something very special and right about a nation of Jesus people gathering together as one body.
Over the past three weeks, more than 20,000 followers of Christ from all across the UK (representing all of the major denominational steams) put aside their minor differences and came together to rally around Jesus. Spring Harvest (springharvest.org) was the festival that God used to bring us together, and while there, we spent our time worshiping, learning, encouraging, and celebrating our unity and identity as a called out people.
Anglicans, Baptists, Evangelical Free, Methodists, United Reformed, and every denomination or stream in between came together each night in the Big Top to affirm our commitment and love of God... and it was absolutely moving to see.
Awaken had the opportunity to be there and stand amongst our brothers and sisters in the UK with Rob as he taught different sessions and helped lead the evening celebrations. We asked him what his highlight of Spring Harvest was this year...
"It was such a beautiful moment on Good Friday (our last day together) to celebrate communion with thousands of saints from all across the UK who I will probably never meet in this life, but will spend eternity with forever. I was given the humbling opportunity to lead us in our time at the table, and as I looked out from the stage I was overcome with emotion by the beauty of the profession we were making together as one. All different backgrounds, all different lives and stories, all different races and colors, all different ages, all different forms of doing church... BUT one God, one Savior, one Spirit, and one Body. We shared in the body and blood of Christ, and affirmed our calling as proclaimers of Jesus until His return. I know that the God of the Universe was glorified at that moment."
It was a true honor to be a part of Spring Harvest this year, and Awaken is so grateful for the opportunity to witness and be a small part of what God is doing in the UK.
