There are a ton of incredible worship songs out there today. As I have grown in my walk with Christ, and as a worship leader, some of the most beautiful songs that I am drawn to now have such simple words.
A song that is frequently playing in my car is “I Need You More” by Bethel Music:
I need you more, more than yesterday
I need you more, more than words can say
I need you more, than ever before
I need you more, I need you more
More than the air I breathe, more than the song I sing
More than the next heartbeat, more than anything
Another song I have on repeat is “God I Look to You,” also by Bethel Music,
God I look to You, I won’t be overwhelmed
Give me vision, to see things like you do
God I look to You, You’re where my help comes from
Give me wisdom; you know just what to do
One more song, (and I’ll stop because this could go on for days)…the song “Still Believe” by Kim Walker-Smith (linked at top):
I still believe you’re the same yesterday, today and forever
I still believe your blood is sufficient for me
The most beautiful songs in my opinion are the honest, raw songs where you are just simply responding to God and proclaiming who He is, or where you are just flat out desperately telling God how much you need him.
Honestly, these songs serve as a reminder for ME of how much I need Him. When I think I’ve got it together, or that I can manage on my own for that moment, He gently reminds me of my desperate need for Him at all times. It’s so easy to get caught up in “my life” with my schedule and agenda for what I want to happen for ME. Something I have really been trying to do lately is to look at things from God’s perspective (Give me vision, to see things like you do). I read somewhere the other day “stop asking God for answers and start asking for Him to give you HIS PERSPECTIVE.” I want to live this way, to live in a place where my schedule, my agenda, and my life plans all revolve around His purpose and not my own. If I get to the end of my life and have done a lot of incredible things for my sake, what good will it do? I want to make a difference for the sake of the Kingdom. I want to live every moment in need of Him, relying on Him for my next step, seeing things the way He sees them, so that in all things, people are drawn to Christ. To me, the words of these songs remind me of that…they are simple but so true.
