What an incredible week we had last week leading at Super Summer. It was so encouraging to be in a room full of students who are so passionate. You could feel the spirit of the Lord from the moment we started. We had prayed and asked Him to be there, it was obvious that the students had prayed the same thing.
I grew up attending Super Summer with my home church, and I can truly say it made a huge impact on my spiritual growth. They are so intentional about teaching the next generation of leaders. I always left feeling so challenged to go deeper than I ever thought I was capable of in my relationship with Christ.
I can remember being at camp one summer, hearing God speaking to me, and feeling a calling into music ministry. Honestly, it scared me…what did that mean? I didn’t see myself going on staff at a church as a worship pastor, or being a choir director…so why was God saying this to me? Over the years, I took any opportunities that God placed in my path to lead worship, still trying to figure out what that calling meant. Through following every step that He placed in my path, that calling has turned into a full time worship position on staff at an incredible church, The Avenue Church, and getting to be a part of AWAKEN MOVEMENT.
We had the chance last week to go around and talk to students from each grade during the day…and I realized (again) how incredibly faithful God has been. We got to share with the students and encourage them to use whatever gift God had given them for the kingdom. We (Joel, Mark and I) each got to share our stories of God’s faithfulness and power in our lives, and I saw each one of us in these students. They will be our future pastors, youth pastors, worship leaders, etc., and God was giving us a moment to encourage them, pretty cool!!
After one of these sessions, I walked out to my car, and the tears started flowing. I thought about every moment leading up to that point, and how it has all been so perfectly orchestrated by God. My heart became overwhelmed with gratitude that He would allow me to be a part of leading these students. I left feeling so excited about the future of the church, and the leaders that are being formed at this very moment. I’m so grateful for Super Summer, for the impact that it has had on my life, and that it is still making that same impact today.
